
Three blind mice have had their tails cut off with a carving knife. Blind Mouse A was clever enough to save the severed end. After reattachment surgery the tail had lost 15% of its original length. If before the operation, the severed end had been 4cm long and the total post-surgical length was 6.8cm, how long was the stump before surgery?
